Holidays in American Samoa

Office of Tourism - Samoa
American Samoa is poised to offer you unique cultural experiences befitting of your expectations, while not sacrificing the comforts of home. Samoan culture is rooted in mutual respect and sharing. These cultural traits account for our overwhelming preoccupation with hospitability and our desire to share with you our way of life. Samoan culture is a vibrant and dynamic system that continues to direct and influence our daily lives.

Squidoo - American Samoa
Simply imagine listening to the sound of the rushing surf, as the warm pacific breezes gently brush against you, as you gaze at the scenic palm trees swaying along the sandy beach. Plenty of sights to see and plenty of enjoyable moments are to be found on the spectacular pacific islands of Samoa.

Go Samoa
Samoa travel is about exploring, stunning beaches and above all else, a traditional and extremely friendly and genuine culture. This is the real South Pacific dream - and those travellers' that are put off of tired of the commercial aspects of Fiji, Cook Islands and Tahiti will find the Samoan Islands to be a nothng but delightful. This is the place to experience off the beaten travel, a little adventure and no crowds.

Beautiful Samoa
American Samoa is a collection of seven islands administered and influenced by the USA and lying about 100 km to the south east of Apia in Western Samoa. Tourism is extremely low-key and there are few holiday resorts. There are six daily flights from Apia to Pago Pago Airport on Tutuila Island, taking about 40 minutes, as well as direct international flights from Hawaii with connections to Los Angeles. Tutuila Island is by far the largest and most populated island of the group. Its coast is rugged, with few beaches and its mountains steep and covered in tropical rain forest. Pago Pago is the capital set against steep mountains and a deep and extremely attractive harbour.

Lonely Planet - American Samoa
Despite the palm-trees-wafting-in-the-trade-winds image, American Samoa is something of an oddity in the South Pacific. Hastily Americanised in the 1960s, the islands have all the ugly results of commercial and cultural imperialism sticking out from behind the fronds.
