Travel Guide - Saint Martin
Situated in the North Eastern Caribbean, between Anguilla, Saint Barths,
Statia and Saba, it is administratively a commune of Guadeloupe... often
wrongly claimed to be the smallest territory in the world shared by two
countries and the only one divided without a frontier...(A much smaller
island in the north Baltic sea¨is shared between Sweden and Finland)

- Saint Martin
A bit more than half the island is French St Martin. The remainder is Dutch
St Maarten, complete with windmills and peope who don't take their dogs
to restaurants as do the French. True, there aren't many windmills but the
same can be said for Holland itself. There are beaches and sports to suit
all tastes. You can shop till you drop, then get up again and shop some
more. The bargains are everywhere because St Maarten is a truly duty-free,
tax-free island.
Holiday
Lettings - Saint Martin
The smallest island in the world to be shared between two nations, Saint
Martin belongs to the French and Sint Maarten to the Dutch. There’s no real
border between the two, so you can enjoy a day in the Dutch south with its
renowned duty-free shopping and dine in cosmopolitan French Saint Martin
in the evening. A holiday spent on Saint Martin/ St Maarten can be action
packed or sedate, with great nightlife on offer in St Maarten’s bars, casinos
and restaurants or relaxation and glorious beaches in impeccable French
Saint Martin.
Lonely
Planet - Saint Martin
It's not quite as cosmopolitan as Martinique, nor is it the royalty and
rock-star magnet that is chic St Barth - nevertheless, with its fine French
restaurants, European-inspired duty-free shops and glorious beaches, St
Martin is infinitely more refined than its Dutch island-mate Sint Maarten.
